The Box Scheme

We grow fruit and vegetables on our smallholding at Arcadia in Tenterden, Kent, where we also keep free range hens and pigs.  We aim to produce our food in a natural way - the way you would.  We feed our animals quality feed and our home grown produce to produce the best pork and free range eggs.

We only deliver to customers locally who have signed up to our service.  We ask all new customers to register, (see the Registration page) to tell us which fruit and vegetables they like so that we can make sure we are filling their box with things they want to eat.  We may be growing things that they haven't tried before, so we give people a "don't know" option.  When it's in season, we'll include some for them to try and then they can tell us if they want us to include them in future or not.  Customers also need to tell us what size of vegetable or fruit box that is appropriate to their weekly needs.  Each box is made up to match individual preferences and size needs and priced accordingly.

We try to pick most of our home grown produce as close to delivery day as possible so that our customers can have really fresh and tasty fruit and vegetables.  Where demand for vegetables exceeds what we can grow, we supplement our vegetables with locally sourced produce - mainly from other growers in Kent.  You can find out what is available for inclusion in your weekly box on the Box Contents page of this web site.  This also tells you what items have been bought in that week.

In addition to food we produce ourselves, we also supply other products that our customers have requested.  These include pies from Kentish Mayde, produced in Biddenden, and other fruit that we can't grow ourselves like bananas, oranges, grapes, pineapples etc. Fruit is supplied against a regular weekly order from our customers.  Pies need to be ordered 3 days in advance of delivery day so that we can order and collect these.

Each month we produce a Newsheet to tell you what is going on in our world.  This also includes a  Home Produce order form advising customers of the availability of any other produce like jams, marmalades, pickles, chutneys, herb pots, hanging baskets, etc.  Ordering is simple, just let us know what you would like and we deliver it with your next weekly box.

To keep payment simple, we ask our customers to make regular payments by cash, cheque or bank transfer.  We do not use direct debit facilities.

We ask customers to give us 7 days notice before they go on holiday, or don't want a delivery.
